Allen: I was so proud of them

The Robins bounced back from their hugely disappointing 3-0 derby defeat at Hereford United on Saturday to book their place in round two, where they will play League Two club Morecambe.
Midfielder Lewis Montrose was the goal hero with a well-taken 22nd minute strike and a brave rearguard action in the second half shut out Oldham and earned the Robins their first clean sheet since August.
It was also Allen's first away win since taking over as boss and after being covering in energy drink by his jubilant players in the dressing room after the game, he praised their character.
"A few harsh words were said in the Herefordshire countryside on Saturday and it's been a magnificent response," Allen said.
"The whole squad, the staff the directors and the chairman were all happy as well as the fans who made the trip up here tonight and the best part of my job is being able to make those people happy.
"It was a good night for the club and I am particularly pleased for the players.
"They were hurt on Saturday, but when you see centre forwards making sliding challenges on our six yard box and young boys running when they don't have anything left in their legs, I was so proud of them.
"They covered me in drink, threw it all over the place and the dressing room is covered. The lights went off and all of a sudden the manager was covered in drink and they hugged me at the end."
Allen said that despite the recent slump in form, he has full faith that his players can transform their fortunes and embark on a much-improved run in form.
"Mental attitude is the key and I am confident when everyone is fit we can balance out and get results and I am happy with them," Allen (pictured) said.
"I don't like losing, but when we play like we did against Leeds, Colchester United, Oldham and other games, the boys are doing well.
"They defended as a whole unit and got a clean sheet, which for us is good."
Defender Darren Kenton missed last night's match with an ankle knock and Allen did not know if he would be back in contention for Saturday's trip to Carlisle United.
