Brown training with Vale

Tuesday, November 18, 2008, 08:00

Cheltenham Town midfielder Scott Brown has joined League Two Port Vale on trial, with a view to a one-month loan deal.

The luckless Brown's time with the Robins has been blighted by injuries and he was placed on the transfer list by boss Martin Allen last month.

His only first team appearance this season was as a substitute in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat by Walsall on October 7.

Brown started his career as a trainee with Everton before joining Bristol City in 2004.

He arrived, initially on loan, at Whaddon Road in January 2007, but suffered a broken leg in his first match as a full-time Robins player after a collision with team mate Damian Spencer against his old club at Ashton Gate.

Brown, 23, was ruled out for nearly a year and has since struggled to show the exciting potential he had done at City.

His attempts to rediscover that sort of form were hampered by another injury, this time after an accidental clash with colleague Paul Connor in the summer friendly against West Brom.

Meanwhile, defender Lathaniel Rowe-Turner has returned to Leicester City after completing his one-month loan. Rowe-Turner, 19 last week, made only one appearance for the Robins.

Winger Aaron Ledgister was last night set to agree a financial settlement with Cheltenham over the termination of his contract, which was due to run until the end of the season.

Robins chairman Paul Baker has offered to fund up to three coaches for the trip to Leyton Orient on December 13.

A coachload of fans broke down on the return journey from Hereford on Saturday. The offer will be initially open to fans who travelled on official supporters' coaches to Hereford and will be available from November 25.

All remaining seats will then be up for grabs on a first come, first served basis from 1pm on December 6, ahead of the home match against Crewe.
